As the three kings addressed the crowds in Bethlehem, all at once the dark clouds parted and the sky was bathed with radiant light. People were filled with wonder as they gazed into the heavens. In the hills nearby, some shepherds saw the same light. They had been tending their sheep, but when the heavenly light broke through the clouds, they fell to the ground in fear.
Nobody thought shepherds were important. Yet they were the first ones God invited to meet the new king. Use a blanket as a field and some toys as sheep. Pretend to be a shepherd looking after them. The shepherds were doing their ordinary job of looking after sheep. What do you think a sheep needs? Pretend to be a sheep – can you make a sheep noise?
