Holy Night

People in towns and villages for miles around and all the shepherds in the fields covered their eyes to shield them from the blinding rays. When they looked up, the sky was filled with singing angels and praising the glory of the Lord. One voice could be heard above all the others.

“Fear not,” said an angel of the Lord, “for I bring tidings of great joy! For unto you is born this day in the city of David, a saviour, who is Christ, the Lord, and this will be the sign. You will find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.”

Then the voices of the angels rang out like bells “Glory to God in the highest, peace on earth and goodwill toward men!” The hearts of the people were filled with gladness.

Activity

God’s glory shone brightly around the angel as he told the shepherds his message. Can you find a torch or a light you can turn on that shines in the dark? What kind of news did the angel bring? The shepherds got to hear an amazing group of angels singing when Jesus was born. Play some party music and have a little dance.

The angels sang ‘Glory to God’. That means, Well done, God! You’re amazing!’ When did someone say, ‘Well done’ for something you did? Did you get a sticker? A certificate? Can you find it?
